Heaven

Light installations at the Fredrieke Taylor Gallery, New York, 2005.

These installations are about the pleasurable thresholds of vision and perception. Within an almost overwhelming cloud of light, one makes out suggestive words which appear almost as after-images. The gallery is bathed in an intense glow of white light from which emerge this series of shadow-words making together poetic reference to other forms of whiteness, both profane and illuminating. Each of the 13 pieces is constructed as an array of fluorescent lights, the back sides of which are blacked-out with gaffer tape. The effect created produces a refractive shadow which is composed to create typography or bit-map graphics. Texts authored in collaboration with Tami Sagher.
