Sliver

Video/Light Sculpture, Santa Monica, California 2010

Material: Color coated steel, laminated glass, white LEDs Size: height 62', diameter 20"
The art work is made of 11,520 white LEDs (3 LEDs per pixel, matrix 8 x 480), which are diffused by placement behind translucent glass. The changing pattern of light and dark within the glass surface is triggered by a live input of randomly chosen TV news channels such as CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, PBS, BBC, and others, switching in 30 seconds intervals. National and local news serve to animate an aesthetic play of light.
